SPAIN | RÍAS BAIXAS
Adegas Valmiñor is located in the Rías Baixas D.O. wine region situated in northwestern Spain along the Atlantic coastline.
Wines from Rías Baixas have recently increased in popularity thanks to efforts of enterprising producers, Adegas Valmiñor among them, who have adopted modern winemaking techniques to showcase this region’s signature grape, Albariño. Wines made from Albariño are typically crisp, fresh, and aromatic.
Within the D.O. there are five sub-areas, and Adegas Valmiñor is located in the sub-area of O Rosal, South of Galicia and on the border with Portugal. It is characterized by cool, moderate climate with high average rainfall. It is this micro climate that allows the Albariño grape to retain the crisp, mouth-watering acidity so vital to the distinctive style of the wine.
The finest Rías Baixas wines have intense aromatics, long, pleasant floral aftertaste, often further lifted by a slight fizz. Moreover, the area’s granite soil helps the wine with intense minerality.
Wines from this denomination must be at least 70% Albarino, the rest made up of Treixadura, Torrontes, Loureiro and Caino Blanco.
80% Albariño / 20% Loureiro + Treixadura
» Lemon in colour, the Davila shows a wide and complex range of spring-flower aromas, accented by notes of pineapple and mango.
» On the palate, it is velvety and fresh with a complex blend of tropical fruits that are well integrated with aromatic herbs; its complexity and minerality contribute to an amazingly long finish.
» Versatile with first course dishes; with the complexity and minerality, it will also match well with dishes with savory sauce
