▸ 94 Points – Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (Oct 2016)
“Made from 100% Grenache and all from the Colombis lieu-dit, the sensational-looking 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Joanna is a full-bodied beauty that has first-rate purity, no hard edges, sweet tannin and terrific notes of strawberries, black cherry jam and Provençal spices. It’s a beautiful wine that should be snatched up by Grenache lovers.”–Jeb Dunnuck (Oct 2016)
SPEC | Vintage 2015
▸ A cuvée produced in the best vintages, which gives a highly charming wine with notes of cherry, leather, garrigue, spices. ▸ Beautiful texture, lots of volume, supported by a serious tannic structure. ▸ Why “Joanna”? – The cuvée gets its name from the historical character Jeanne of Naples, also known as Queen Jeanne, Queen of Naples and Countess of Provence who in 1348 sold the city of Avignon to Pope Clement VI. ▸ This single-vineyard wine is only produced on the best vintages. In 2015, only 900 bottles were produced. ▸ The vines of the "Colombis" lieu-dit, near the village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, are up to 135 years old, among the oldest of the appellation. The soils are mainly composed of limestone sands and gravels. ▸ The average yield is 15hl/ha. Depending on the vintage, the grapes are not destemmed. ▸ The juices are vinified using natural yeasts for 4 to 5 weeks in cement vats. The aging is carried out during 18 to 24 months in multi-years old French oak demi-muids.
