▸ 92+ Points — Vinous (Mar 2023)

“The 2022 Sangiovese Romagna Predappio is darkly intense, with a youthfully brooding bouquet of crushed ashen stones and flowery underbrush complicating a mix of blackberries and rosemary. It’s lifted and graceful in style, soft textured yet slender, with tart wild berry fruits and salty mineral tones guided by a core of brisk acidity. The 2022 leaves the palate drenched in primary concentration and a coating of fine tannins, austere yet still juicy, as a pleasantly bitter tinge fades slowly. The 2022 is still tightly wound and in need of further cellaring, but with that said, it has the balance and complexity to mature beautifully over time. Enjoy the exuberant 2021 while waiting for this beautiful bruiser to come around. ”
Eric Guido (Mar 2023)

▸ Aromas of bright light red cherry fruit with nuances of spice. ▸ Fruit characters are echoed on the palate with good acidity and a minerality that contributes to a moderatly long finish. ▸ A biotype of Sangiovese grapes indigenous to the Romagna region are used to produce this wine. Combined with a unique clay soil rich in prehistoric marine deposits results in a wine that differentiates itself from other Sangiovese-based wines from Tuscany and surrounding regions. The vines are 40 years old on average. ▸ Hand-harvested grapes undergo spontaneous whole-berry fermentation in stainless-steel tanks with indigenous yeasts; 15-25 days of maceration followed by 1 year of aging in Slavonian oak botti.

Food pairingsPairs well with a variety of meat dishes: beef, pork, veal; also a good choice for the cheese cart, especially traditional Italian hard cheeses.
