Our Story

Louis Chenu Père & Filles is a boutique winery run by Caroline and Juliette, daughters of Louis Chenu. The winery started when Louis Chenu's great grandfather bought the first parcels of vineyard in 1914. Caroline and Juliette are the fifth generation Chenus; they began to take over the Domaine almost 20 years ago, embarking towards full organic farming by 2006 then obtaining certification by ‘Veritas’. As winemaker Caroline says: “Everything is easy if the grapes are beautiful.” Towards this motto, many aspects of biodynamic viticulture are also practiced (though not yet certified). All 9.5 hectares of vineyard are situated in Savigny-les-Beaune, mainly producing Premiers Crus. In the vineyard, all the work is hands-on while in the cellar, fermentation is carried out naturally at low temperature; red wines are generally not filtered before bottling.
