Kir-Yianni
Our Story
Yiannis Boutaris, founder of Kir-Yianni, has his root in the wine business. In 1977, after more than 30 years at the helm of another very successful Greek wine brand, Mr. Boutaris decided to spin-off two of his best vineyards to create a super-premium Greek wine estate that will serve as a reference point for quality Greek wines. Kir-Yianni is one of them. The grapes are sourced from their estates in premium appellations of Amyndeon and Naoussa. A dominant grape is Xinomavro that has comparable characteristics with Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo. With complexity and finesse, Xinomavro wines are often cited among the finest from Greece. Today, Stellios Boutaris, son of Yiannis and member of the fifth generation of winemakers, leads Kir-Yianni into the next phase of its history, by dynamically exploiting the cornerstones of the Kir-Yianni philosophy: desire for innovation, respect for tradition and true knowledge of the wine, from the grape to the end consumer.
